Abali Organic Tea Estate is the first Certified Organic Tea Estate in Arunachal Pradesh since 2004. Founded in 1998 by three pioneers — Jatan Pulu, Binod Saharia and late Narendra Tibrewal — the estate is rooted in sustainability and tradition.
This region is home to the Idu Mishmi and Adi Padam tribes, proud communities who migrated centuries ago from China across the Himalayas. The Abor and Mishmi fiercely resisted British forces near Sadiya, where Tea was first discovered in India.
Abali Organic Tea Estate is a pioneer of Vrikshayurveda, the ancient Indian Science of agriculture practiced by Rishis and traditional farmers and described in Vedic teachings.
At Abali, these time-tested organic methods enhance soil fertility, correct mineral deficiencies, balance soil pH, and naturally control pests and diseases without chemicals.
Tea leaves are processed in a mini, unconventional factory designed by Mr. J.W. Steinherr of Shillong. Withering is done near the Lohit River in traditional thatch houses using bamboo, cane wood, and stainless steel.
